We stayed at Hotel G Singapore, a newly built boutique hotel which is probably the cheapest 4-star hotel in town. Conveniently located near Dhoby Ghaut and Bugis, Hotel G Singapore has been brilliant for our short staycation. In many ways, the hotel is cleverly designed and has the good qualities of a premium hotel.
For USD$80/night, Hotel G really offers the best value for money. In terms of location, room quality and amenities – 5/5 stars. You get complimentary breakfast, impeccably clean and contemporary rooms properly furnished with hairdryer, Mets shower toiletries and a phone for free local and international calls! The only downsides were the size of the bathroom, lack of fridge and bed that is tightly fitted against the wall. The decor of the room was beautiful and modern, with a huge dream catcher on the ceiling makes it very cozy. We got the Queen Room which was perfect for two people.
Getting to Hotel G Singapore
- Nearest MRT Station: Bencoolen (Downtown line). 15-min walk from Dhoby Ghaut and Bugis
- 200 Middle Road, Singapore
- Check-in at Level 2
Also, the staff at Hotel G Singapore was very helpful and friendly. Upon arrival, we were able to get an early check in at 12pm and the receptionist offered us $15 upgrade to the King Room. Every morning after breakfast, we would return to our rooms which had already been serviced and cleaned.
Hotel G: Breakfast, Restaurants & Bar
For breakfast, the buffet spread at Ginett Restaurant was absolutely fantastic. I’d recommend the freshly-made scrambled eggs, butter toasted croissants, salami and cheese. The buffet for mains changes every morning, so look out for the asian steamed fish and carbonara pasta with chicken and mushrooms.
For dinner, we went to 25 Degrees Burger and was pleasantly surprised by their niche selection of burgers and cocktails.
The ‘Item 1 Beef Patty Burger’ was really delicious and filling. Get the add-on for 2 sides and 3 dips – Dijon, Garlic Parmesan and Ranch + Truffle Fries. But I wouldn’t recommend the yellowfin tuna burger – it was rock hard and dry, not the usual chunky and moist tuna sandwiches you’d normally expect.
Overall, the experience at Hotel G Singapore was above our expectations. For 5D4N staycation in Southeast Asia, this boutique hotel is probably the best deal you can find for its high quality and price. Will definitely return for our next visit to Singapore!
